johanna Hyyppa - Head trainer & owner

Johanna Hyyppa, a Connecticut native, was raised in a family deeply rooted in the equestrian world—her mother a respected horse show judge, and her father an equine veterinarian. Immersed in the sport from a young age, Johanna trained under some of the industry’s most prominent names, including Andre Dignelli, Linda Langmeier, and Missy Clark. As a junior rider, she earned numerous accolades across the East Coast, securing championship titles in the hunters, jumpers, and equitation. Her standout accomplishments include winning the USET at Devon, a top ten finish in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals, Reserve Grand Champion in the 3'6" Junior Hunters at Junior Hunter Finals East Coast, and Reserve Champion at the USEF Junior Hunter Finals.

In 2012, Johanna founded Metro Stables with a mission to cultivate the development of young riders and horses. Known for her sharp eye, technical expertise, and strong foundation in classical horsemanship, she is passionate about bringing out the best in each horse-and-rider combination across all three rings. Her thoughtful and individualized approach has helped her students achieve notable success at both local and national levels.

Most recently, Johanna earned her USEF “r” judge’s card and serves on the Committee of the New England Finals, further expanding her role in the sport beyond training and competition. She brings the same thoughtful insight and commitment to excellence to the judge’s booth as she does to her work with students, contributing meaningfully to the sport in and out of the ring.
